Abstrak

Cimulu Irrigation Area is an irrigation system located in the Tasikmalaya area. The main water sources taken
come from the Ciloseh River and Cimulu River. There is a problem that occurs in the Cimulu irrigation area of
Tasikmalaya City, namely the distribution of water is not evenly distributed so that there is a drought of land,
especially at the end of the irrigation network, another problem is siltation which results in frequent floods in the
rainy season. The problem occurs due to several factors, one of the contributing factors is sediment.
The purpose of this study is to determine the amount of basic sediment load in the Cimulu irrigation area using
the Meyer Peter Muller and Shen and Hung methods and also to find out the comparison of the results of the
calculation of the amount of basic sediment from the Meyer Peter Muller and Shen and Hung Cimulu methods.
The method used in this research is quantitative, in the form of analysis of sediment values in irrigated areas using
the methods of Meyer Peter Muller and Shen and Hung based on data obtained from observations.
The results of the study of basic sediment transport (Bedload) using the Meyer Peter Muller method from upstream
to downstream of irrigation canals obtained an average amount of 2.38 ????3/day. For the calculation of sediment
transport using the Shen and Hung method from upstream to downstream of irrigation canals, an average amount
of 11.07 ????3/day was obtained. The comparison of the results of the calculation of the amount of basic sediment
from the two methods is 8.69 ????3/day and the more appropriate method used to calculate the amount of sediment
transport that occurs along the channel is the Shen and Hung method. Because the results obtained are greater
than the Meyer Peter Muller method.
